This position is responsible for the production of diagnostic images of the highest quality within departmental and professional guidelines. Ideal candidate will have the ability to verbalize descriptions of orthopaedic conditions with basic understanding of anatomical structures and relationships with one another. Must be able to handle the coordination of patient flow, review charts for current information, ensure that the appropriate studies accompany the patient to the room, take a pertinent history, and ensure the provider’s orders are carried out.
Produce radiographs of optimum quality.
Position of all routine examinations according to Vinita Merrill’s Radiological book of positions to include Orthopaedics and fluoroscopy.
Operate radiological equipment according to departmental guidelines
X-ray equipment processor
Correctly identify radiographs with patient information and anatomical markers and place completed films on panoscope for interpretation.
Ensure preventive maintenance completed on equipment on quarterly basis.
Provide assistance with film library duties to include filing and retrieving patient film jackets.
Ensure digital radiographs are correctly identified with patient information and anatomical markers and storage is maintained.
Assist with application and removal of cast.
Responsible for patient flow of clinic.
Obtain vital signs.
Capturing and entering patient information into EMR.
Performance of basic laboratory test and entering results into EMR.
Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens.
Rooming of patients into exam rooms with preparation for exam and assisting provider with exam.
Ensuring appropriate documentation such as x-rays and laboratory reports are available for provider’s review.
Prepare, clean and stock exam rooms for clinic.
Ensure provider’s orders are carried out:
Under direction of provider will schedule PT/OT, surgery and diagnostic tests to include pre-authorization and notification of patient.
Assist provider with procedures as necessary.
Ensure accurate ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes are recorded.
Ability to cross cover in other clinical departments.
Demonstrates service oriented approach when dealing with patients, visitors and staff.
Participates in professional in-services, departmental and clinical staff meetings.
Demonstrates universal precautions and proper handling of bio-hazardous waste.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ability to set priorities and manage time and resources efficiently.
Excellent assessment, communication and listening skills.
Ability to work as part of the multidisciplinary team, accepting and giving feedback appropriately.
Ability to make decisions, think pro-actively and accept change.

An Associate's degree is required
