UC San Diego Extension is fully self-supporting, operating year-round (12 months of active instruction) with a budget of $45 million annually in primarily fee income. The unit has over 200 career employees, including academic, management, staff and executive, as well as represented and non-represented positions. Many casual or contract employees and student workers also serve in the organization. In addition, Extension employs about 1,000 active by-agreement instructors.
Extension operates in 200,000 square feet of managed space, including a large off-campus classroom facility. The unit maintains a robust online learning platform, operating 24/7 (including some Spanish language elements) with webcasting and video-conferencing capability. Extension also a strong web presence with e-commerce operating 24/7. There are over 60,000 enrollment transactions annually; 35,000 outreach certification transactions and 25,000 service transactions. Extension supports a robust network of representatives, agents, and students (both residential and online) around the globe. Along with all of this, Extension operates two television stations, a variety of public lecture programs and is active in federal, state, local, and private research and technical assistance programs and activities.
The Program Manager manages the planning, scheduling, implementation, and evaluation of programs and courses in the Public Service department at UCSD Extension. Will use skills as a seasoned, experienced public educational program professional to resolve a wide range of educational program issues and needs assessments. Develops new public educational programs, and works on complex public educational programs of diverse scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for delivering courses, presentations and development programs. Receives general instructions and exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for course and instructional improvement. Fully knowledgeable in course subject matter and program.
Additional duties include: ongoing course schedule planning, instructor recruiting, student and instructor advising, promotional planning, periodic program and course evaluation and adjustment, and responding to complex programmatic issues. In conjunction with the department director and other stakeholders, participates in long-range strategic planning. Develops outlines for new course curricula and updates, or recommends updates to existing course content. Participates in the development of strategic marketing plans and coordinates marketing events. Develops and monitors budgets.

Proven experience in managing a portfolio in healthcare education at the university or continuing education level including experience hiring and training instructors and providing academic advising to students.
Demonstrated experience in the administrative management of programs, development of budgets, scheduling, and providing customer service. Thorough experience delivering programs.
Proven experience conducting needs assessment and development of new presentations and courses to meet organizational needs.
Demonstrated experience performing long-range strategic planning to include identification and evaluation of course offerings to meet market demand.
Thorough experience with marketing concepts including participating in developing marketing plans, targeting audiences, and coordinating marketing events.
Strong experience conducting analysis and developing recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.

Must have own transportation, insurance, and a valid California driver's license.
