Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in biochemistry, biology, biotechnology or related biomedical fields.
Experience in research. Experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques. Proficient with data analysis using Microsoft package software. Two (2) years of experience directly related to the area.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Research Support Specialist will work independently. In this position, the incumbent will have opportunity to acquire new research skills as necessary to perform their duties. Principal duties and responsibilities assigned to this position include but are not limited to:
Performance of technical assays such as ELISA, microarray, luminex, DNA/RNA extraction, western blots, RT-PCR, qPCR and immunohistochemistry.
Applies and optimizes approaches for characterization of exosomes from biofluids and cultured media.
Processing of animal and human biological samples.
Coordinate with clinical entities in studies of human tissues or specimens.
Laboratory maintenance, including keeping a laboratory notebook.
Assist the PI in research personnel management, including students.
Interact closely with investigators and their collaborators in consortium settings and core facilities
Generates scientific sections of grant applications with appropriate guidance.
Order supplies and maintain inventory and expenditure records.
Perform data entry/analyses.
Maintain compliance with laboratory inspections, general laboratory cleanliness as well as maintenance of standard operating procedures to ensure lab safety.
Other duties as assigned.
