This position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring of Information Management Systems (Epic) for the department of Nemours Health Informatics at multiple locations. Selects and develops staff within their respective team while providing oversight and direction for daily operational activities within the team. Facilitates and participates in regular customer and vendor meetings, designed to communicate overall Nemours Informatics vision and progress to designated priorities. Supervisors are directly responsible for interviewing, orienting, completing performance evaluations, administering disciplinary action, providing advancement opportunities, and completing payroll for front line staff.
This position requires knowledge of processes and workflows common in inpatient and ambulatory settings, in addition to advanced computer skills. Supervisors must have broad knowledge of EPIC application integration and data flow, as well as extensive experience in the on-site installation and support of EMR applications. A thorough understanding of corporate administrative and clinical initiatives is required so staffing and focuses are aligned to support key goals and deliverables.
Analyzes operational workload on staff, and recommends improvements in staffing models or workload adjustments to maintain optimal balance between workload and capacity. Supervisor will ensure team responds effectively and in a timely manner to inquiries from a wide customer base by providing technical expertise, guidance and direct supervision of team resources.
Achieve and maintain one or more application (Epic) specific certification in accordance with vendor requirements.
Serves as applications content expert and liaison to clinical and business operations in providing a safe, high quality electronic medical record environment. Works with multi-disciplinary teams to garner support for operational improvements, insuring that constituents from business and clinical communities are engaged.
Supervises staff by monitoring daily workflow, assigns projects, and balances workloads of analyst staff and others such as Clinical Informatics Specialists.
Manages maintenance and monitors function of all clinical application systems to ensure high standards of system performance and availability.
Participates and coordinates with Nemours Health Informatics management team to determine goals and develops strategies to meet those goals within predetermined timelines and projected budget.
Facilitates communication among clinical departments, information systems, health information management, revenue cycle, legal, and others to provide enterprise wide support of the electronic medical record functioning as consultant, application expert, and liaison for users and data integrity.
Utilizes project management methodologies in oversight of evaluation, testing and validation of new release functionality.
Conducts root cause analysis and internal surveys and audits to maintain quality of services provided and compliance with standards.
Support the team as a mentor and coach. Guides professional performance and development through maintenance of performance management tool.
Is accountable for team member behaviors by using appropriate supervision through effective feedback, evaluation and acknowledgement of team contributions.
Conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings, maintaining communication among team members.
Facilitates/participates in application Change Control integrated meetings and operational taskforce meetings.
Provides status updates and reports to management team regarding departmental projects and initiatives.
Directs analysts in report writing, data analysis and system documentation.
Manages external vendor relationships including monitoring application vendor contracts and billing.
