Associate Professor and Director of Pediatric Pathology, Memphis - 19000001C6
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is inviting applications for a clinically focused academic senior pediatric pathologist with experience in general anatomic pathology and/or with subspecialty interests in cardiac, neuropathology or molecular pathology.
Responsibilities include coordination of clinical, educational and research activities of pathology services at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital (LBCH), the newly built state-of-the-art hospital. The 255-bed pediatric health care facility is located in the heart of the Memphis Medical District. LBCH serves a catchment of ~850,000 children in 95 counties across 6 states. Students and fellows from all 6 Colleges at UTHSC rotate through LBCH for their pediatric training. LBCH houses the Children's Foundation Research Institute and multiple associated Centers of Excellence. Community engaged research within the child health sphere is done in association with the Le Bonheur Community Health and Well Being Division of LBCH, which administers more than $17M in Federal, State, and private grants annually. Opportunities to collaborate with the Pathology Department at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital exist.
The Director of Pediatric Pathology will additionally play an important role in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine which is rapidly growing and consists of divisions of Anatomic, Clinical, Translational and Experimental Pathology. The Pathology Department, with its more than 80 primary and affiliated faculty serves multiple institutions including Methodist University Hospital, LBCH, Regional One Medical Center and the Veterans Administration Hospital.
There is an active residency program in which the residents have an opportunity to partake in a clinical service handling almost 200,000 cases. Select fellowship programs including pediatric pathology are also offered.
The successful candidate will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
M.D. degree. Must have completed a medical residency in Pathology and be board eligible or board certified in Pathology . Eligible for licensure in Tennessee.
The successful candidate will be employed through University Clinical Health, the practice plan for UTHSC, and appointed commensurately at the rank of Associate or Full Professor; at least 5 years' experience is preferred.
