The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, the Sr. Accountant works with contacts across the SCCA and outside organizations and is responsible for the preparation of more complex and/or non-standard journal entries and related reconciliations, technical research for GAAP or tax issues, and analysis and presentation of accounting issues to members across the organization.
Prepare journal entries and related reconciliations
Process related party payments to and from
Prepare financial information, including the audited financial statements, board report, and others upon request
Maintain and improve financial models to demonstrate P&L impact and support decision making.
Provide financial analysis and administration of complex multi-institutional and multi-million-dollar agreements including:
Clinical Funding - Physician Clinical Time, APP (Midlevel) Clinical Time, Residents/Fellows Clinical Time, After Hours Coverage Clinical Time (Moonlighting)
Medical Director Stipends - Direct funding of a faculty members compensation and benefits for administrative/leadership roles
Program Support - Administrative staff, scholarly time, incentive plans, credentialing/privileging cost, physicist funding for Radiation Oncology, and miscellaneous discretionary funds
Lab agreements, Inpatient Service Agreements, and strategic investments
Analytical support, process development, and implementation of new pricing methodologies, new purchased services, and revisions to existing agreements with partner organizations.
Facilitate processes effectively across multiple internal/external stakeholders including: Finance and Accounting teams, clinical staff, and senior leadership
Manage and maintain client relationships: foster collaboration, clear communication and operational effectiveness across institutions
Conduct complex quantitative/qualitative data analysis and develop/maintain reporting in support of joint business planning models across institutions.
Monitor performance to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement.
Analyze, identify and define key issues and develop/propose options to address concerns.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent
Active Washington CPA license
Five years experience in accounting or finance
Five years conducting monthly/yearly financial statement close processing
Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
Strong attention to detail, follow up regularly, prioritize and ability to independently perform complicated and multiple tasks with minimal direction
Able to identify and resolve routine and complex problems
Comfortable communicating with both a technical and non-technical audience
Excellent and pleasant oral and written communication skills by email, phone and in person
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
Knowledge of and experience with the financial suite of PeopleSoft applications highly desirable

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance was incorporated in 1998 as a separate, jointly governed non-profit that included the cancer programs of three partners. Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is a cancer treatment center that unites doctors from Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, University of Washington Medical Center, and Seattle Children’s. The purpose of this organization is to provide state-of the-art patient and family centered care; support the conduct of cancer clinical research and education; enhance access to improved cancer interventions; and advance the standard of cancer care regionally and beyond. The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Northwest, and according to the National Cancer Data Base, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients in general have better survival rates than patients treated at other cancer treatment centers.
