Assistant Supervisor - Governmental Unit - 1902008
At Stony Brook Medicine, an Assistant Supervisor - Governmental Unit will assist their supervisor in any appeals and insurance issues. In the absence of their supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor - Governmental Unit will supervise the unit. They will also be in charge
of special functions with the unit, such as audits & appeals.

Duties of a Assistant Supervisor - Governmental Unit may include the following but are not limited to:
Resp onsible for billing and follow-up on Medicare and Medicaid claims including adjustments, voids, denials, coding issues, audits, payments and High Dollar Accounts.
Review correspondence as it pertains to Medicare and Medicaid coordination of benefits, Livanta, IPRO and other audits.
Assist the supervisor in scheduling, timesheets, leave requests, performance programs and evaluations, staff questions, and coverage as needed.
Assist the supervisor in unit staff training and make recommendations to improve policy and procedures for the unit as well as the office.
Review governmental updates and regulations and effectively communicate to supervisor any updates that apply.
Analyze and address new issues as they become apparent and work with their supervisor to incorporate new procedures necessary.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Associates degree and at least 2 y ears of hospital/healthcare billing office experience, or in lieu of a degree, at least 5 years of hospital/healthcare billing office experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Knowledge and billin g experience using a claims scrubber system. Experience working in FSS DDE (Omni-pro System). Experience in follow-up on rejected/denied inpatient and outpatient claims in a hospital/healthcare billing office setting. Supervisory experience. Experience in Siemens Software. Knowledge of DRG, APC and APG payment methodologies.
