Under the direction of the Director of Developmental Services the Occupational Therapist provides comprehensive Occupational Therapy services to meet the needs of young children and their families. Work in a trans-disciplinary team model with a dedicated team of professionals providing early intervention services in this dynamic nonprofit organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate as a trans-disciplinary team member for program planning and delivery of services to children 0-3 with special needs.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of current professional theories and techniques as well as best practices in the field of Occupational Therapy.
Provide occupational therapy consultation to center-based classroom staff and assigned children.
Provide hands on demonstration and modeling of Occupational Therapy intervention strategies within the classroom environment.
Monitor implementation of early intervention techniques by classroom staff and provide verbal and written feedback.
Lead group activities in classroom environment at least 2 times per week.
Provide therapeutic equipment, activities, and items for the classroom staff to address children’s individual needs/goals.
Conduct ongoing classroom meetings, individual meetings with classroom staff, and staff training’s that support Occupational therapy intervention strategies.
Maintain caseload in compliance with We Care’s productivity standards.
Complete comprehensive 6 month and annual developmental assessments and goals for assigned caseload.
Engage and collaborate with families through orientation, goal, and progress meetings.
Conduct parent training’s as assigned.
Document meetings and contact with parents and outside agencies.
Evaluate and record children’s progress and other pertinent data on a regular basis, (may be assigned to staff, where appropriate) Attend IFSP/IEP, and progress review meetings as needed.
Supervise entry-level COTA and OT students, as time permits.
Consult with developmental playgroup staff on therapeutic components of playgroup curriculum.
Consult with Mental Health Therapists on needs of therapist’s client caseload.

Current CA Occupational Therapy License
Minimum 2 years working with infants and young children with special needs and their families
Excellent organization, interpersonal, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively on teams, including cross-departmental teams
Passionate to work with children, energetic, playful, adaptable, self-initiated
Strong analytic skills and time management skills
Proficient computer skills for documentation
Able to lift, hold, and carry a 40 pound child Able to sit on floor with child Able to bend over or kneel to meet needs of child Able to lift and carry necessary therapeutic equipment
