The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Technician in the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology. The candidate will be primarily responsible for the biobanking of human clinical samples. This includes the processing of blood and skin specimens and maintaining a database of samples. Organization and strict attention to detail is required as well as proper usage of personal protective equipment and sterile techniques. Other duties will include tissue culture of human specimen cells, molecular and biological assays, and manipulation and experimentation of clinical specimens.
The incumbent will be reporting regularly to the senior technicians and to the PI. Associate's degree in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field is required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. Mathematical/statistical and/or data management experience is a plus. One year of experience in a laboratory setting or with cell/molecular biology research is desired. Occasionally the position will require flexibility with shift/hours.
