The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.
The Program Assistant I performs clerical and administrative support to the Pathology Department. This position is at all times a courteous and polite representative of the Pathology Department and provides excellent customer service to our clients on the phone as well as clients that enter the department seeking assistance from Pathologists. This role performs all general front desk (receptionist) duties. This position carries-out routine special assignments or projects in addition to performing clerical responsibilities.
In a pleasant, calm and organized manner, answer triage, and route phone calls
Accuratelyaccession cases into the Pathology LIS
Return consult slides and paperwork to various outside institutions in a timely manner
Use dictation equipment to transcribe complex, confidential medical documents
Take accurate meeting minutes at department meetings
File slides, blocks, and reports in a timely manner
Participate in a constructive manner in department meetings
Promptly pull weekly QC cases and reports for review
High school diploma or equivalent
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong word processing skills are essential, as is proficiency with basic software applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Transcription experience preferred

The purpose of this organization is to provide state-of the-art patient and family centered care; support the conduct of cancer clinical research and education; enhance access to improved cancer interventions; and advance the standard of cancer care regionally and beyond. The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Northwest, and according to the National Cancer Data Base, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients in general have better survival rates than patients treated at other cancer treatment centers.
