The Center for Young Women's Health (CYWH) is a partnership between the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine and the Division of Gynecology , at Boston Children's Hospital . The Center is an educational entity that is committed to providing teen girls and young women with carefully researched health information, educational programs, and conferences. The mission of the CYWH website is to help teen girls, their parents, educators, and health care providers improve their understanding of normal health and development, as well as of specific diseases and conditions. The CYWH's mission is to empower teen girls and young women around the world to take an active role in their own health care.
This Staff Nurse/Nurse Educator will be responsible for:
Writing/developing health education materials, at a teen and parent friendly reading level.
Working with a small dedicated staff of both clinical providers and web staff in a major pediatric hospital and overseeing CYWH Resource Center activity.
Working with adolescents and mentoring high school and college students.
Developing patient and family conferences or similar events.
Managing a small staff.
Writing or collaborating in the writing and submission of grants.
Responding to emails/phone inquiries re: medical questions, MRKH referrals, and all administrative questions.
Collaborating with other providers to provide answers to "Ask Us" questions and website questions.
Reviewing and updating existing educational guides; and writing new guides as needed.
Seeing MRKH returning and new patients in GYN clinic on Thursdays.
Planning and coordinating two conferences each year- MRKH and Endometriosis.
Writing and reviewing blogs and newsletter articles.
Write/submit posters for BCH Community Health week and NASPAG.
Help to coordinate workshops for DPH nurses.
To qualify, you must have:
A BSN degree.
3+ years of clinical experience in women's health, preferably pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
A minimum of 1-2 years of pediatric/adolescent nursing experience.
Understanding of health literacy.
Exceptional writing and organizational skills. This candidate should bring to the position a passion for writing at a teen and parent friendly reading level.
Experience with health website design/development a plus.
Excellent clinical and communication skills; experience in women's heath a plus.
Exceptional collaborative and teamwork skills.
Strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
