The primary function of this role is to provide molecular biology support to research scientists and clinicians at Nemours. This position will manage and execute genomic sequencing based-projects, including development, testing, validation, and implementation of new genomic technologies and protocols. This position will manage the Illumina NextSeq platform / instrument, including implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices. The candidate will provide regular updates to the Director and leadership. Additionally, this role will help drive new and innovative techniques for conducting next generation sequencing library preparation and analysis.
The candidate will be responsible for helping to create a sample management / tracking / LIMS system that will be fully integrated with the genomic “big data” generated from NGS assays. The candidate will manage all wet-bench laboratory aspects for NGS and will work closely with computational scientists on data analysis and data management.
Extensive knowledge of NGS equipment, with a focus on the Illumina platforms and chemistry
1-3 years experience required
Advanced degree required
Strong proficiency in Microsoft office applications, including word, power-point, and excel
Demonstrated team player that has ability to work independently as well as part of a diverse team
Excellent initiative and organizational skills to prioritize complex tasks, projects, and workflow
