Valley Children's is seeking an experienced Lead Ophthalmology Technician to join a collaborative, dedicated team in its Ophthalmology Clinic. Valley Children’s Ophthalmology practice specializes in the management and treatment of congenital and acquired pediatric eye diseases, malformations and disorders. Using innovative techniques, our pediatric ophthalmologists provide diagnostic services, medical treatment and surgical services specifically for infants and children.
Position Details and Responsibilities:
Under Practice Manager Supervision, performs duties relative to the day-to-day front and back office operations of the department
Supports the practice manager in maintaining a patient-centric focus
Responsible for assisting with physician schedules, building scheduling templates, and supporting the clinic workflow process
In partnership with the Practice Manager, monitor metrics such as patient access, no show rates, timely scheduling of patient follow ups, AccuReg results, payor selection, patient wait times, and authorizations as well as several other indicators
Maintains proficiency as a super user in the clinic's EMR systems
Maintains expertise in terms of Ophthalmology Technician job accountabilities and provides support to front line staff engaged in a variety of work related to the front and back end processes
Responsible for assisting the Practice Manager with training and development of the staff
High school diploma or GED required
Graduation from Ophthalmic Technology Program or two (2) years in a similar role in lieu of patient care program preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within 30 days of hire or transfer into the position
COT - Certified Ophthalmic Technician or COA - Certified Ophthalmic Assistant preferred
Minimum three (3) years related experience
Minimum five (5) years increasingly responsible experience which demonstrates proficiency in the skills and knowledge required to perform the job
Leadership experience and bilingual skills preferred
Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple priorities in a timely manner
Medical terminology skills preferred and strong verbal and written communication skills
