The Michigan State University (MSU) College of Human Medicine Department of Pediatrics and Human Development is a pediatric primary and specialty care department dedicated to providing excellent patient care and medical education. Our faculty engage in a wide range of clinical, educational and research activities, with the focus of improving the lives of the children we serve.
The successful candidate will spend 60% effort on clinical activities. They will participate in inpatient and outpatient hematology/oncology service and will participate in after hours and weekend calls.
MSU Pediatric Hematology oncology is a member of children Oncology group. As a member of the team, there is opportunity to participate in clinical trials related to pediatric oncology, hematology and bleeding and clotting disorders.
The candidate with appropriate research credentials may be able to spend 30% effort on benign hematology bench/transitional/ clinical research.
As faculty at College of Human Medicine there is ample opportunity to teach undergraduate graduate medical students and residents in clinical as well as class room setting. This position is open to the Assistant and Associate professor levels. Rank will be commensurate with experience. Appropriately qualified candidates may be eligible for assistant directorship of the Lansing-area Pediatric Residency Program.
Applicants must have an MD or DO degree and one (1) to three (3) years' clinical practice experience. The successful candidate must hold current certification in pediatric hematology/oncology from the American Board of Pediatrics (or be Board-eligible), and must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Michigan and medical staff privileges at participating institutions.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with special needs, experience teaching at one or more levels of medical education, and an interest in research. Desire to play a leading role in the development of care services for children and adolescents with Sickle Cell Disease and Hemoglobinopathies is desirable.
