The Paul L. Foster School of Medicine (PLFSOM) Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) is seeking an innovative leader to serve as its new Department Chair of Pediatrics. The Chair will serve as the academic and clinical leader of the Department of Pediatrics with direct reporting to the Dean of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. The Chair will develop a vision for excellence in the graduate medical education program, undergraduate education program, and delivery of clinical services for the Department of Pediatrics while building up scholarship and research in the department.
TTUHSC El Paso is experiencing vibrant growth. TTUHSC El Paso consists of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and a new Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine in the advanced planning stage. For over 40 years, the Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, has been committed to training highly qualified and compassionate pediatricians. The department provides clinical care through Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso, the university’s medical practice group, with ambulatory clinics at the Alberta campus site and at a new Transmountain clinic site in northwest El Paso.
Additionally, inpatient pediatric services are provided at the university’s hospital partners. El Paso Children’s Hospital (EPCH) is a full-service, 122-bed academic teaching hospital that features a state-of-the-art environment and a Level IV NICU. University Medical Center (UMC) of El Paso, TTUHSC El Paso’s primary teaching hospital, serves as the only Level I trauma center in a 300-mile radius and has a level IV maternal care designation. The university’s newest affiliate, The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus, is a new full-service hospital with 106 beds in northwest El Paso, adjacent to the university’s new medical office building.
The Chair will have the opportunity to continue the growth and expansion of clinical and educational services, as well as to provide greater depth to the clinical research program. El Paso consistently ranks as one of the safest, fastest growing, and best places to live in the U.S. This is an excellent leadership opportunity for someone who desires to build and develop an already clinically excellent department into a well-rounded academic department.
