The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.
The Senior Payment Analyst performs professional financial analysis to support optimal decision-making for the organization. The incumbent is responsible for insuring that all financial information generated is accurate and timely.
Perform payment analytics including complex modeling, reports and presentations to support payer contract negotiation and translate industry reimbursement trends into quantifiable impacts to the SCCA
Evaluate and develop payment models in support of the organizations value-based purchasing strategies focusing on the financial terms, risks and sensitivities
Prepare actionable Tableau dashboards to communicate payer/payment trends and issues that impact the business
Conduct analysis on various healthcare initiatives and the expected impact to SCCA
Educate self through industry readings, conferences, and other forums on critical financial and healthcare trends
Identify and implement areas of improvements such as increasing the level of data accuracy or decreasing the time spent to update a model or report
Perform financial risk and payment/profitability variation analysis including some advanced statistical techniques

Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) required - preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field
5 years of financial analyst experience, preferably in a healthcare environment or relevant experience
Ability to apply critical thinking and analytic skills to formulate recommendations and resolve problems.
Ability to research, analyze and interpret complex data and formulate recommendations.
Ability to interpret contract terms and translate terms into financial models.
Excellent data-modeling skills with ability to prepare complex financial analysis and interpretations with high degree of accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to propose actions, identify opportunities, make recommendations and articulate financial impact of decisions different audiences in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to independently prioritizes projects, develop and monitor timelines, and bring projects to completion
Advanced Excel skills and expertise with relational database tools such as SQL Server and Access
Able to grasp and apply new concepts quickly.
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision with a wide degree of creativity and latitude. May manage projects independently or lead/direct the work of others.
Masters Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field preferred
Experience with SQL and Tableau
Experience with payment analytics and value-based payment arrangements

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Northwest, and according to the National Cancer Data Base, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients in general have better survival rates than patients treated at other cancer treatment centers.
