ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR OF CLINICAL PATHOLOGY (Director of Transfusion Medicine)

The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine are actively seeking a full-time faculty member for Director of Transfusion Medicine with clinical service, research, and teaching responsibilities. This position is at the Associate or Full Professor level; salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience and scholarly accomplishments. Applicants must have an MD, MD/PhD, or DO degree, have a CA medical license upon hire and have demonstrated excellence in clinical care, translational research and education. American Board of Pathology certification in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine or significant clinical experience in transfusion medicine is required. The Transfusion Medicine section includes another full-time faculty and a nurse practitioner position and directs a Transfusion Service with 18,000 annual blood transfusions, Apheresis Service with 550 cases annually, and Blood Donor Center with 12,000 whole blood donors and 2000 platelet donors. In addition to clinical responsibilities including Transfusion Medicine/Apheresis consults and procedures, and blood bank and blood donor center physician coverage, this position will provide clinical and academic leadership for CHLA’s Transfusion Medicine program. Excellent opportunities for collaborative research exist in conjunction with our Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology/Oncology, as well as the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases.
