Iowa Methodist Medical Center is a part of the UnityPoint Health – Des Moines (UPHDM) regional health system. UPHDM is a community health system that incorporates four hospitals and over 50 clinics to provide care for patients based in the Des Moines area. UnityPoint Health Des Moines is comprised of Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Blank Children's Hospital, Iowa Lutheran Hospital and Methodist West Hospital. Iowa Methodist Medical Center is a 450 bed comprehensive medical center and teaching hospital located in Des Moines, Iowa and is the primary teaching site for the residency program. This includes Blank Children's Hospital which is a stand-alone pediatric hospital located on the Iowa Methodist Medical Center campus specializing in neonatal and pediatric intensive care, pediatric hematology/oncology services as well as general pediatric care.
Iowa Methodist Medical Center is a level I trauma center, one of two in the state of Iowa. The institution provides a wide variety of services, ranging from cancer care and short-term rehabilitation to cardiovascular surgery, renal transplant, stroke and maternity care. As a teaching hospital, Iowa Methodist Medical Center offers a variety of residency programs for new health care professionals including medical, pharmacy, podiatry & nursing residency programs.
Iowa Methodist Medical Center partners with Drake University to offer an extensive didactic teaching experience including the completion of a teaching certification and the opportunity to coordinate an elective course in the spring. Additionally each resident will have multiple opportunities to precept experiential students throughout the year.
In addition to our strong teaching component, Iowa Methodist offers a robust residency experience including required learning experiences in: internal medicine, critical care, infectious disease, pediatrics, management, medication safety (longitudinal), clinical management (longitudinal), hospital practice (longitudinal), and ambulatory care (longitudinal). Additional elective learning experiences include: pediatric ICU, pediatric infectious disease, pediatric hematology/oncology, renal transplant, cardiology, oncology, surgery/trauma & emergency medicine.

Duration: 12 consecutive months, beginning June 22, 2020 through June 30, 2021

Must be a graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the Natation Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).
