The departments of Pediatrics and Radiology at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School invite applicants for the open positions at the postdoctoral research fellow and graduate research assistant levels.
The funded project involves collaboration with radiologists, radiation oncologists, neuroscientists, neonatologists, pediatricians, neurologists and psychiatrists at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), and Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), all affiliated with Harvard Medical School. The project involves developing and using medical image analysis and machine learning algorithms to quantify normal neurocognitive development, to integrate MRI with radiation maps and clinical data, to understand the mechanisms and to predict adverse neurocognitive outcomes in patients undergoing treatment for brain tumor during childhood. The successful candidates will be in the final years of PhD or have a PhD degree in the BME, EE, CS, Applied Maths, psychiatry, neuroscience or related fields. Experience in machine learning and medical image analysis is preferred but not required. The recruite will be named “research fellow” (postdoctoral level) at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital.
Visiting scholars from related fields are welcome.
The new member will be working closely with Dr. Yangming Ou, who is currently in the process of being promoted from an Instructor (Research Assistant Professor) to Assistant Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School (expectd Jan. 2020). Dr. Ou is establishing a research lab focusing on medical image, informatics and intelligence (http://www.childrenshospital.org/research/researchers/o/yangming-ou). The team is part of the Fetal-Neonatal Neuroimaging and Developmental Science Center (FNNDSC, https://www.fnndsc.org) and is also affiliated with Computational Health Informatics Program (CHIP, http://www.childrenshospital.org/chip) at BCH. Members in Dr. Ou’s team (postdoc fellows, PhD students, and research assistants) work on MRI analysis and machine learning for abnormality detection, early screening of disorders, outcome prediction, treatment evaluation, as well as neuroimaging biomarkers for typical and atypical brain development.
