Department Description Emergency Medicine provide Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma care for more than 33 of California's 58 counties. UC Davis Health System is home to state-of-the-art emergency care for children. Our Pediatric Emergency Department features the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center in inland Northern California (verified by the American College of Surgeons). From Portland to Fresno, from outside the Bay Area to Reno, no other hospital in inland Northern California has a Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center servicing approximately 70,000 patients each year. The Department of Emergency Medicine at UC Davis provides a dedicated team of physicians, nurses, 42 residents, and a total of 26 specialists of every medical and surgical specialty to treat critically ill and injured adults and children. Our team provides an extraordinary level of knowledge, skill and compassion to every patient we serve at our Level 1 Surgery and Emergency Services Pavilion. The Emergency Department is prepared and equipped to provide comprehensive and efficient emergency care to patients in need of medical and surgical specialty physicians to treat critical and acute illnesses and injuries 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY ResponsibilitiesAs a member of the Department's senior management team, this position reports to the Nurse Director and has a dotted-line to the HR Executive Director, HRBPs and Senior Lead, UCDH. This position is responsible for the overall supervision and oversight of the Department's human resources management programs, recruitment and processes. The HR Business Partner serves as the department's primary liaison to central Human Resources (e.g., Employee & Labor Relations, Talent Acquisition and Talent and Rewards) as well as the primary consultant to the department's leaders, supervisors and staff on a wide-array of complex and multi-dimensional staffing matters. While exercising initiative, originality and judgment, this position will identify potential issues of concern and will recommend and follow-up on solutions to achieve desired outcomes while partnering with management and staff to maximize departmental personnel processes.
3-5 years of HR Generalist experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or related field and/or equivalent education, experience and training
Solid experience in Employee and Labor Relations
Advanced of experience and knowledge in human resources practices, policies, and procedures.
Advanced experience and knowledge of state and federal labor and employment law, regulations and bargaining units
Advanced experience in strategic planning, developing, managing and executing short and long term goals/plans.
Experience and skills in recruiting, selecting, training and employee retention.
Solid persuasion, listening and conflict management skills
Demonstrated experience partnering and providing consultation to leadership, employees, and HR Partners or HR related issues
Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Suite, HR and Payroll systems.
Strong presentation and training skills
Exceptional analytical, administrative and interpersonal problem-solving skills.
Solid experience in supervisory or leadership skills to manage staff
SPHR and/or SHRM-SCP
Experience in writing, translating and implementing policies.
Experience in coaching managers and staff in personal and leadership development.
Experience working in a health care institution or similar complex organization/industry
