The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for:
Joining our Center for Excellence in Epilepsy and Neurology, with care focusing on children and families with epilepsy and neurological diagnosis. This is a 20 hours/week position on a 31 bed pediatric neuroscience unit, inclusive of a 4 bed step up unit, and 6 bed epilepsy monitoring unit.
First line care of Epilepsy and Neurology patient population on the inpatient neuroscience unit, including assessment and medical history, physical exams, diagnosis, and family centered care of patients and their families.
Consulting in an interdisciplinary manner on all assigned inpatients during daily rounds and managing assigned patients throughout the course of the day.
Participating in ongoing research and quality improvement initiatives, as well as facilitation of patient/family and multidisciplinary team education.
Assisting with care coordination, monitoring and counseling of patients, including telephone consultation.
Assisting with the transition to home, continuity of care across the continuum, and family support and education.
Contributing to the knowledge base of the profession and specialty programs through publications, presentations, and participation in the work of professional organizations.
Working a schedule of every other weekend and one day during the week, 10 hour shifts.
To qualify, you must have...
Master's in Nursing and Licensed PNP or FNP.
3 years minimum acute pediatric RN experience required.
1-3 years NP experience preferred. Excellent critical thinking and communication skills are required. Certification with specialty area expected within 2 years.
