Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher degree) in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology or a related disciplines. Two (2) years of directly research related/laboratory experience in the areas of cell biology and molecular biology.
Previous experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular biology assays. Proficient with data analysis using Microsoft software. Experience with animal models and animal handling.
Brief Description of Duties:
The senior research support specialist will work independently. The successful incumbent will participate in a funded project that aims to characterize markers of tissue remodeling in biofluids and cultured media. This position is laboratory-based and will require routine interaction with scientists across multiple research laboratories. Principal duties and responsibilities assigned to this position include but are not limited to:
Perform technical assays such as ELISA, microarray, luminex, DNA/RNA extraction, western blots, RT-PCR, qPCR and immunohistochemistry
Perform data analyses and interact with other scientists in consortium settings/core facilities to contrast data and discuss findings
Perform animal studies
Optimize approaches for cell culture and characterization of microvesicles from biofluids and cultured media
Process animal and human biological samples
Under the direction of the PI, generate scientific sections of grant applications
Coordinate with clinical entities in studies of human tissues or specimens
Responsible for laboratory set-up and compliance with laboratory inspections
Order supplies and manage expenditure records
Assist the PI in research personnel management, including students
Other duties as assigned.
