Department Description Emergency Medicine provide Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma care for more than 33 of California's 58 counties. UC Davis Health System is home to state-of-the-art emergency care for children. Our Pediatric Emergency Department features the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center in inland Northern California (verified by the American College of Surgeons). From Portland to Fresno, from outside the Bay Area to Reno, no other hospital in inland Northern California has a Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center servicing approximately 70,000 patients each year. The Department of Emergency Medicine at UC Davis provides a dedicated team of physicians, nurses, 42 residents, and a total of 26 specialists of every medical and surgical specialty to treat critically ill and injured adults and children. Our team provides an extraordinary level of knowledge, skill and compassion to every patient we serve at our Level 1 Surgery and Emergency Services Pavilion. This position performs EKGs, Wound Irrigations, Wound Preparations/Bandaging, CPR, Patient Valuables Check, Patient Transports, Vital signs, assist in equipment setup i.e. Pleuro-Vacs, Suture Trays and other surgical trays, splints, C-Spine Immobilization, oxygen setup, application of restraints, postmortem care, teaching patients crutch walking and cast care. Assists nursing and medical staff in other duties as required.
