The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.
The Tax Accountant is a key contributor in supporting SCCA's federal, state, and local tax compliance and regulatory reporting and GAAP financial reporting. This position is responsible for timely and accuratepreparationoftax and regulatory compliance supporting work papers,recurring and ad hocjournal entries, monthly reconciliations, and audit schedules.
Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of the organizations various federal, state, and local tax and informational filings, regulatory reports, and supporting work papers.
Preparation of monthly and annual account reconciliations and journal entries.
Assist in coordination and training of the organizations annual Form 990 Community Benefit reporting.
Streamline processes and document procedures.
Support annual financial statement audits.
Assist with tax and regulatory audits.
Proactively identify issues and implement tactical solutions impacting the organizations tax compliance and regulatory reporting.
Independently identify, research, document and resolve routine and complex problems within assigned work.
Perform special projects as assigned.
Assist others within the department as needed, including training and research and serve as a liaison to those outside the department.
Perform other responsibilities as required.
BA or BS in Accounting, Finance or equivalentwork experience
Analyze and interpret the organizations financial transactions to ensure tax and regulatory compliance
Excellent project and time management skills
Strong attention to detail
Able to follow up regularly, prioritize, and independently perform multiple complicated tasks with minimal direction
Ability to effectively meet internal and external deadlines
Able to identify and resolve routine and complex problems
Strong research, analytical, and conceptual skills
Ability to conduct financial analysis/comparison/reconciliation from various data/system sources
Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization
Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance was incorporated in 1998 as a separate, jointly governed non-profit that included the cancer programs of three partners. Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is a cancer treatment center that unites doctors from Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, University of Washington Medical Center, and Seattle Children’s. The purpose of this organization is to provide state-of the-art patient and family centered care; support the conduct of cancer clinical research and education; enhance access to improved cancer interventions; and advance the standard of cancer care regionally and beyond. The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Northwest, and according to the National Cancer Data Base, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients in general have better survival rates than patients treated at other cancer treatment centers.
