The manager of Sterile Processing manages, directs and coordinates the support staff functions for the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Responsible for assisting in planning and controlling operational and capital budgets for the department. Responsible for insuring that the Sterile Processing Department operations are carried out in compliance with State and Federal regulations and industry protocols. Communicates with surgical and interdepartmental staff, as well as vendors and manufacturers, ensuring production and quality requirements are met, evaluating staffing needs, and administering programs in safety, communication, teambuilding, etc. Utilizes high-level customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.
Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) preferred or Associate degree (AA or AS) required from two year college.
Two years' experience in a Sterile Processing Department Leadership role preferred, or five years' experience related to healthcare in; SPD setting required.
Knowledge of nursing procedures and aseptic technique is required.
Current certification in Sterile Processing (IAHCSMM or CBSPD) required.
Current Sterile Processing Management Certification (IAHCSMM or CBSPD) preferred or ability to attain within 2 years of hire.
