THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY ResponsibilitiesUnder the general direction of the Research Manager, the Research Administrator 3 is responsible for the analysis and reconciliation of contracts and grants account expenditures (in excess of $8.5 million) in accordance with budgeted projections and uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research administrator to independently develop and / or oversee research proposals, awards and / or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. Also, the Research Administrator 3 works on proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires thorough understanding of complex regulations, researches issues, analyzes data, prepares reports, makes recommendations and meets with Principal Investigators on a monthly basis. Additionally, the Research Administrator 3 provides accurate monthly financial reports to PrincipaI Investigators, the CAO, and Finance Manager and develops budgetary projections for review and makes budgetary adjustments as needed. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Health Administration, Social Sciences, Statistics or related field of study and / or equivalent experience/training.
Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.
Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Experience managing significant volume of transactions.
Experience performing complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Skills to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.
Current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Must be able to adjust hours to accommodate office needs and grant deadlines, which includes occasional overtime when required.
Valid California driver's license required for travel to Davis campus, as needed.
