The University of Mississippi Medical Center is a 722 bed academic medical center located in Jackson, MS. As the state's only level I trauma center, transplant center, level IV NICU and children's hospital, we are able to provide an extremely broad variety of experiences to a pharmacy resident. The PGY1 experience prides itself on providing a well-rounded and flexible experience for the resident with only 4 required rotations during the year. We offer 6 PGY1 residency positions and 1 PGY2 position in critical care and infectious diseases, respectively.
Our pharmacy department is extremely well integrated into the patient care at our institution. We also have a close working relationship with the School of Pharmacy, allowing residents to participate in teaching and precepting students.
Electives include, but are not limited to: medical ICU, surgical ICU, neurosurgical ICU, cardiac ICU, emergency medicine, toxicology/poison control center, general pediatrics, neonatal ICU, pediatric ICU, pediatric hematology/oncology, infectious disease consults, infectious disease stewardship, internal medicine, informatics, solid organ transplant, bone marrow transplant, nutrition, administration, investigational drugs, academia, heart failure clinic, anticoagulation clinic, cystic fibrosis clinic, transplant clinic, outpatient dialysis clinic, med/peds clinic, and hypertension clinic.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center is a 725 bed hospital system in the Metro Jackson area. We are the only academic medical center in the state and have schools of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, and other health-related sciences on our campus. UMMC is home to the only Level 1 trauma center, only Level IV NICU, and only children's hospital in the state.
