Christiana Care Health System is currently seeking a Maternal Child Educator/Lactation Consultant for the Parent Education department at Christiana Hospital. In this role you will provide education for expectant and new parents and extended families. You will support, promote and protect breastfeeding both in the inpatient and outpatient setting. You will a ssess patient's/family's learning needs and carry out teaching measures. Utilize the patient learning process for assessing learning needs, providing information and evaluation for expectant/new parents, families, and members of the community regarding preparation for childbirth, parenting, women's health, and related topics.
Requirements: BSN required; or commitment to obtaining within three years of date of hire can be considered with relevant experience. Previous experience in either Post-partum, LDR or NICU. Child Birth educator preferred. Lactation consultant certification preferred. CPR certification.
This is a 48 hr bi weekly, day/evening shift. The day shift hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. The evening shift hours are typically 1:00 - 9:30 pm depending on class schedule and patient needs. Scheduling flexibility is a required per department needs. One weekend a month is required per department needs.
