Womens and Childrens Services includes the Institute on Development and Disability (IDD), the Department of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Center for Women's Health. This level 2 coding position provides support to the Womens and Childrens Services OBGYN department.
Responsible for meeting performance standards set for accurate and timely submission of charges and coding for professional services rendered at OHSUs Womens and Childrens Services OBGYN department.
Working in collaboration with Womens and Childrens Department Leadership and billing departments, provide coding expertise regarding a broad range of third party payer and reimbursement issues.
Requires maintaining an hourly productivity standard and quality standards as set by the department and based on Industry Standards.
Will require attendance of Department meetings via conference call or in person.
Work assignment will vary based on business needs or management assignment.
Medical Record Review:
This position is responsible for reviewing documentation to make sure it supports the levels and type of service billed and to ensure it is in compliance with Medicare/Medicaid billing regulations and documentation guidelines. Responsible for supporting multiple specialties within OB/GYN (including urogynecology and gyn-oncology, and behavioral health) and Center for Womens Health. Responsible for meeting performance standards set for accurate and timely submission of charges rendered at OHSU, outside clinics, and surgical centers where OHSU providers are rendering services. Provide technical expertise regarding a broad range of third party payer and reimbursement issues, working in collaboration with FPP.
Provides education and updates to medical providers and departments regarding coding and billing practices, and documentation requirements relative to CMS depending on job).
May provide a variety of general administrative support such as running reports, answering phones, filing, providing customer service for coding /CPT/ICD-10 information.
Provide support when needed as back-up for integrated desks including IDD, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Center for Womens Health (with a focus on fertility clinic charge entry).
High School diploma or equivalent
Certification in one of the following (as indicated by the position description )Coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA:
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA),
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT),
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Active AHIMA membership may be required for some positions.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through the American Academy of Professional Coders; OR
Minimum two years of hospital or professional services (dependent on position) experience reviewing, abstracting, and coding medical records using ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS.
Working knowledge of CMS, State and Federal billing guidelines.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
Completion of coding course through an accredited college or University
OBGYN, UroGyn, Primary Care, Psych, professional diagnostic radiology coding experience
HCC coding experience
Medicare AWV, OB Global package billing, Telemed experience
Epic EMR experience
Encoder or SuperCoder experience
Prior experience in an academic setting
