The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education. This role reports to the Director of Strategic Outreach, Education and Affiliate Network, serving as leader of the Strategic Outreach team, one of the core functions within the department. This position brings together outreach planning, execution, tracking and reporting functions of SCCAs outreach efforts across all sites of care, with locations at South Lake Union and multiple Community Practice sites. This position will build a cohesive approach to drive growth across the SCCA system, making data-informed decisions that advance knowledge of SCCAs programs and tell the whole SCCA story. This role requires excellent leadership skills, decision making skills, a mindset of customer-obsessed project management, and demonstrated success in leading a strong and independent team. Strategic Leadership - Lead the outreach team in analyzing, strategizing, devising tactics, and executing plans for growing oncology programs across the SCCA system, with measurable goals and objectives, understanding the needs of lead physicians and referring practices.
- Oversee the detailed project schedule for Outreach activities with an elevated view across the SCCA system for congruence, ensuring messaging and outreach tactics tell the whole SCCA story across all sites of care.
- Oversee execution of science-based communications to professionals and referring providers, leveraging educational and digital channels as part of a cohesive outreach strategy.
- Collaborate with leaders and experts across multiple departments, including marketing, service line, medical education, clinical analytics and digital outreach.
- Apply CPI and Lean Leader principles to improve processes, set targets, engage cross-functional problem solving, and seek measurable outcomes.
- Maintain SCCAs image in the community as thought leaders and experts in oncology care and clinical research.
- Oversee project to build and deploy data-driven PRM system for qualitative and quantitative insights and tracking.
- Develop, oversee and maintain new physician outreach onboarding program.
- Participate in department leadership and planning. Help set departmental goals, tracking and continuous improvement. Support, supervise and provide feedback on employee performance. Communicate opportunities and issues to director.
Operational Management - Prioritize goals and objectives to ensure the success of outreach program initiatives, adjusting to achieve intended results, providing feedback and guidance to outreach team.
- Facilitate geographic organization of outreach team and associated tactics, by liaison and assigned territories.
- Facilitate solutions using sound judgment and available resources, triaging to appropriate personnel, and elevating issues to senior management as necessary.
- Manage departmental budget, forecast expenses and revenues, identify potential funding sources and track program expenses.
A bachelors degree with 8 years of progressive leadership experience in a health care setting in the fields of outreach, physician liaison, business development, sales, marketing, customer service or clinical/practice management required.Masters degree or advanced clinical degree is desired. Direct oncology experience is strongly preferred. - Leadership. Mastery of Strategic Relationship Management, with experience providing feedback, coaching and developing a highly competent strategic outreach team.
- Business & Health Care Management. Previous health administration, clinical, operational, or business management experience is required. This role will lead and drive opportunities along oncology referral pathways within disease specific oncology service lines, from screening and prevention, to treatment and survivorship.
- Systems Thinking. Ability to understand and make decisions based on the flow of a process, how all pieces fit together, and how making a change will impact the entire system.
- Analytic Decision Making. Demonstrated ability to set targets, analyze, interpret, and communicate performance metrics to administrative and clinician leaders particularly in the areas of relationship engagement, system referrals, and growth metrics.
- Excellent communication skills. Written and verbal communication skills, presentations skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required. Experience with Tableau Data Software and SharePoint preferred.
- Diplomacy. Tactful approach in handling confidential and sensitive information with a high sense of responsibility and discretion.
- Travel required. Must have a valid Washington Drivers license. >30% travel locally, regionally and nationally; overnight travel for meetings and events. Ability to work evenings and weekends.
