Department Description
The Food & Nutrition Services Department provides food and nutritional services to patients, staff, and visitors at UC Davis Health. THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY ResponsibilitiesThis position provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to patients within pediatric outpatient clinics, along with consultation to the interdisciplinary care team, and other clinics as assigned. Provision of medical nutrition therapy is according to standards of practice and policies and procedures, It includes, but is not limited to, nutritional assessment, diet calculation, coordination of nutritional services with community agencies, participation in case conferences, and continuity of care. Populations served include infants, children, adolescents, and adults. This position may precept dietetic interns and participate in promotional or community activities for the medical center. Participates in compliance and performance improvement activities. Maintains professional competence. Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university is required (minimum Nutrition BS or equivalent of MS degree in Nutrition)
  • Applicants must be a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Must maintain registration by participating in continuing education.
  • California Children's Services (CCS) Paneled Dietitian (or CCS Panel Dietitian eligible)
  • Strong academic background and applied background in clinical nutrition.
  • Knowledge and experience applying medical nutrition therapy principles, including enteral and parenteral nutrition support.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work experience or majority of clinical training in a large teaching hospital/academic medical center strongly preferred.
  • Outpatient clinic experience and Pediatric MNT experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience using electronic medical record strongly preferred.
  • Experience teaching or supervising dietetic interns or other student preferred
Special Requirements
  • Must be able to travel between buildings on medical campus. Must be able to see, speak, and hear or read lips.
