The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.
The Program Assistant I position shares duties in two different transplant clinics. In the Transition Program, which manages patient movement between Inpatient and Outpatient services, and Outpatient to discharge, the Program Assistant works under the close direction of Transition Registered Nurses. This position provides administrative and clerical support for these activities. The Long Term Follow-up program and Transplant clinic are fast paced environments and the individual in this position is required to be pro-active and use sound judgment to accomplish their duties.
Supports theLong Term Follow-up department work processes for incoming patients and telemedicine services
Provides support to the Triage Registered Nurses and Patient Care Coordinators
Works with medical records, charting activities and appointment support
Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients
Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of, and maintains confidentiality of employee information and SCCA strategic plans and initiatives, financial information or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize employee rights or the organizations operations
High school graduate or equivalent
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights
Under direct supervision, ability to use initiative and sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities
Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear and concise manner
Ability to use a mouse, navigate computer programs, enter data into computer systems in accurately and efficiently
Ability to work in a fast paced, complex healthcare environment
Ability to establish professional relationships with patients, families, staff and providers
Other critical skills include flexibility, attention to detail, andability to work under pressure
Experience in a medical setting
Demonstrated customer service skills

Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is a cancer treatment center that unites doctors from Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, University of Washington Medical Center, and Seattle Children’s. The purpose of this organization is to provide state-of the-art patient and family centered care; support the conduct of cancer clinical research and education; enhance access to improved cancer interventions; and advance the standard of cancer care regionally and beyond. The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Northwest, and according to the National Cancer Data Base, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients in general have better survival rates than patients treated at other cancer treatment centers.
