At Stony Brook Medicine the Sr. Network Security Engineer will perform a combination of design, implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting functions in multi-hospital healthcare system. This includes implementation of new products and enhancements to current systems. Position will also monitor current security platforms for security issues and live exploits.
Duties of a Sr. Network Security Engineer may include the following but are not limited to:
Work with Network Security Manager and team members to design and implement Palo Alto firewalls, management solutions and integrations.
Integrate network security systems with Cisco network infrastructure.
Maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade enterprise firewalls.
Create, modify, remove security rulesets in firewalls and switches.
Work with HP/Aruba Clearpass Policy Manager (RADIUS/TACACS)
Create/Modify LAN-to-LAN and remote access VPNs in Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco ASAs.
Work with HP/Aruba wireless networks including controllers and APs.
Diagram and document network security environment using Visio.
Provide support to both internal IT and external customers in use of security systems, VPN and wireless systems.
Work with current security systems (SIEM, NDR, EDR, SlashNext) while interfacing with SOC.
Perform project management functions including vendor communications and documentation.
Troubleshoot network performance and outage issues.
On-call support as needed.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or Associates Degree in Computer Science (or related field) with 8 years of networking experience
5 Years of Cisco Networking Experience (Nexus and/or Catalyst IOS)
5 Years of Network Security devices (firewalls, VPN, switches, wireless) experience in med/large enterprise (over 1,000 endpoints).
In-Depth, in-practice knowledge of routing and switch protocols
In-Depth, in-practice knowledge of VPN protocols such as ISAKMP, IPSEC, IKE, ESP, etc.
In-Depth, in-practice knowledge of fiber-optic technologies and WAN protocols.
Working knowledge of DHCP, DNS, RADIUS, TACACS in enterprise environment.
Working knowledge of Microsoft AD in enterprise environment.
Network and security experience in large healthcare environment (over 1,000 endpoints).
HP/Aruba Clearpass Policy Manager experience.
Experience with HP/Aruba wireless network controllers and APs.
Experience with Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewalls (physical and virtual) & Panorama management.
Experience with Palo Alto Traps EDR
Experience with Riverbed Profiler/Shark/Packet Analyzer experience.
Experience with LAN-to-LAN and remote-access VPNs using Cisco and Palo Alto.
Experience with NAC implementations in production environment.
Working knowledge of security analysis online resources such as (Alien Vault, Virus Total, RiskIQ, Hybrid Analysis, etc.)
Working knowledge and implementation of EDLs and ISAC feed integrations.
Working knowledge of using Visio for network diagramming.
