Assistant Supervisor - Non Governmental Unit - 1903916
At Stony Brook Medicine, an Assistant Supervisor - Non Governmental Unit will assist their supervisor in any appeals and insurance issues. In the absence of their Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor - Non Governmental Unit will supervise the unit. They will also be in charge of billing functions with the unit, such as audits & appeals.

Duties of aAssistant Supervisor - Non Governmental Unit may include the following but are not limited to:
Responsible for billing and follow-up on claims including adjustments, voids, denials, coding issues, audits and payments.
Assist the supervisor in scheduling, time sheets, leave requests, performance programs and evaluations, staff questions, and coverage as needed.
Assist supervisor with staff training and make recommendations to improve policy and procedures for the unit as well as the office.
Phone interaction with insurance carriers.
Review correspondence and claims as it pertains to coordination of benefits.
Review rejected claims and prepare the correct data for correction and resubmission.
Special projects assigned by the Supervisor or Manager of Patient Accounts.
Required Qualifications: Associates degree and at least 2 years of hospital/healthcare billing office experience or, in lieu of degree, at least 5 years of hospital/healthcare billing office experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Claims Scrubber, electronic remittances. Knowledge of Cerner Invision or Cerner Millennium. In depth knowledge and experience with investigating, reviewing and follow-up on open account receivables in a healthcare/revenue cycle business office. Must be able to handle several tasks simultaneously.
