The Department of Pediatrics is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician to work in the General Pediatric clinical area. This position necessitates an energetic and enthusiastic individual to assist with the outpatient health care management of children. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to handle a high volume of phlebotomy/specimen procurement from pediatric patients. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and the basic computer skills needed for entering data into the electronic medical record. Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial. The ideal candidate should be able to communicate with patients and patient families, as well as with other healthcare professionals. In addition, candidates should be able to work independently, prioritize and handle multiple tasks and complete tasks effectively and in a timely manner. Employee will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe patient care environment. The selected candidate will interact with residents, medical students, nursing students, and other learners on a daily basis to teach procedures and concepts that relate to laboratory practice and procedure.
Currently, hours of clinic operation are from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
