Childrenâs Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), in partnership with University of Southern California (USC) and the Keck School of Medicine of USC, seeks to recruit a Division Chief for Pediatric Neurology. The Chief will provide overall leadership to the division, overseeing strategic planning, recruitment and program development, and ensuring the integration of training and research programs with clinical services throughout the hospital. The Chief will lead the divisionâs support of the Department of Pediatricsâ academic goals in research, education and faculty development and will join the Department of Pediatrics Leadership team. We seek a truly visionary leader who will also serve as the Co-Director of the CHLA Neurological Institute and the Las Madrinas Endowed Chair of Neurology.
Childrenâs Hospital Los Angeles desires to recruit an accomplished physician-scientist with strong leadership skills to serve as the Division Chief for Pediatric Neurology. The Chief will oversee the divisionâs clinical, research and education programs, service missions, staff, and budgetary affairs. They will provide the overall direction for research, recruitment, new program development, and ensure compliance with all governmental and CHLA policies. They should have strong interpersonal skills, be able to effectively communicate a vision, and have demonstrated leadership capabilities in previous academic appointments.
The Division Chief must be a persuasive advocate for the Department of Pediatrics of USC and CHLA, able to articulate goals, inspire progress, and respond nimbly to change. Working with CHLA and CHLA Foundation leadership, the Chief will be an active partner in the fundraising campaign to support and endow programs.
The successful candidate must share and demonstrate a personal commitment to CHLAâs values of respect, excellence, service, knowledge, and teamwork, which are also values shared by the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Candidates should be at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
Candidates should have strong clinical, research, and leadership/management experience in a childrenâs hospital or academic pediatric department affiliated with a university medical school, with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience and an increasing scope of responsibility including faculty and trainee mentoring and program development.
Candidates must have an MD, DO or MD/PhD degree, have completed a Child Neurology Residency, and must be board-certified in Neurology with special qualification on Child Neurology. Candidates should qualify for appointment as Associate Professor or Full Professor.
