The Division of Molecular Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics is seeking an Administrative Clerk to join our team in a full time position. Columbia University Medical Center's Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. This position will support the department by providing technical support to our research project.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist with administrative duties relating to patient care and administrative support to Dr. Chung. The Administrative Clerk will assist Dr. Chung in coordinating her clinical, academic and research activities.
Clinical: Provide secretarial support, initiate and support innovations in the clinical genetics practice. Answer telephones, schedule patients for appointments using IDX, manage physician schedule, prepare patient charts, enter information on electronic medical record, assist patients to schedule testing ordered by divisional physicians; mail out physician letters; communicate with patients. Maintain clinical database of patients. Meet, greet and direct patients and visitors. Help with overall practice management.
Academic: Assist Dr. Chung in education of medical students, residents and fellows, and continuing medical education for nurses and physicians. Assist with preparing presentations including PowerPoint slides and handouts.
Research: Assist with manuscript, grant, and presentation preparation and scheduling meetings for the laboratory and meetings and conference calls with collaborators. Prepare letters of collaboration. Maintain current copies of CV and biosketch.
Any other related duties as assigned.
Two years of college or completion of secretarial school or equivalent business experience plus a minimum of two to three years related experience. Bachelor's degree desirable.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills. Must be able to function independently and meet deadlines. Must demonstrate proficiency with windows based computer software, MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint. E-mail. Knowledge of IDX helpful.
