The Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington School of Medicine and the Center for Immunity and Immunotherapies, in the Seattle Children's Research Institute is recruiting a full time Associate Professor or full Professor, without tenure by reason of funding on the faculty scientist track. Position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a 12-month service period position with an anticipated start date of Summer 2020.
The successful applicant will enjoy a competitive start-up package, and excellent space and state-of-the-art facilities in the Research Institute. She or he will be appointed as faculty at the University of Washington, with potential affiliation within relevant basic science department(s). The candidate will join a vibrant research Center that currently includes 12 investigators with expertise focused on human immunology. The candidate will establish and lead an independent and extramurally-funded research program, actively collaborate with other faculty and scientists, participate in teaching and mentoring graduate and postdoctoral students as well as junior faculty investigators.
Seattle Children's Research Institute, the research division of Seattle Children's Hospital, is one of the top five pediatric research centers in the nation. The research institute fosters a cutting-edge academic environment supporting multidisciplinary research, collaboration, and professional development. In 2018, Seattle Children's Research Institute received $125 million in extramural research funding, including over $68 million in federal funding. Investigators are involved projects that cover every phase of research, from studying how diseases work to improving investigational therapies. The Research Institute is located near its collaborators within the University of Washington South Lake Union Campus, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Benaroya Research Institute and the Allen Institute for Immunology.
At CIIT, we are committed to making transformative scientific advances that lead to better understanding and treatment for immune diseases impacting children and families around the world. Successful applicants will join an exceptional and collaborative research and training environment. Current efforts within CIIT are focused on understanding the genetic and molecular basis of human immune disorders, immune dysregulation and tolerance, and development of novel cell therapies using cutting edge gene editing or gene replacement strategies.

Requires an M.D. or Ph.D or MD/PhD combined (or foreign equivalent).
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
