The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Childrenâs Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Pediatrics in the Division of Medical Genetics, are actively seeking a full-time faculty member for the position of Professor of Clinical Pediatrics.
The candidate will be working with a team of dedicated physicians, metabolic nutritionist, nurse, genetic counselors, and social worker at Childrenâs Hospital Los Angeles. Clinical and research work will be highly interdisciplinary and collaborative. The successful candidate will have clinical and teaching responsibilities. Independent research is strongly encouraged. There are several research/clinical/education tracks available, depending upon the qualifications and interest of the applicant.
In addition to our outpatient activities, our inpatient service is closely involved with genetic and metabolic patients in the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units and other hospital wards. Â We provide close consultative support for babies, children and adolescents with a wide variety of complex and rare disorders. We have growing fetal-maternal, telemedicine, and cardiogenomic centers as well as opportunities for expansion of our neurogenetic multidisciplinary program. We encourage the development of other clinical multispecialty programs commensurate with the interest of the candidate.Â Â
The candidate would also serve as Associate Director of Clinical Research, The Saban Research Institute.Â This is a key leadership role on Dr. Pat Levittâs team and will be tasked with establishing the infrastructure, process, systems and resources to build and develop CHLAâs clinical research capabilities.Â Specifically, this will include:
Capturing deep phenotyping,
Developing cohort discovery tools, including the ability to identify and recruit genetically-defined cohorts,
Recruiting research subjects,
Enhancing biostatistics and bioinformatics cores, and
Supporting the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) with faculty recruitment.
The applicant must have an MD/DO Â and Â beÂ Â board Â certifiedÂ in Â pediatrics or other primary care specialty.Â In addition, the successful candidate must beboard certified or eligible in clinicalgenetics.
