THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY ResponsibilitiesThe successful applicant will be working alongside the three attending pediatric pulmonology and sleep physicians in the care of infants, children, and adolescents with all variety of respiratory conditions including but not limited to asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia (chronic lung disease of prematurity), cystic fibrosis, technology dependence, sleep disorders, and rare lung disease. The NP will spend the majority of their time in the outpatient setting providing consultation services and follow-up for patients referred to pediatric pulmonology. They will also provide hospital discharge follow-up in clinic. In addition to handling asthma, they will be involved in the respiratory evaluation and care of pediatric patients with medical complexity. The successful applicant will have an ability to work in a multidisciplinary team including our full-time resource RN and part time respiratory therapists, dietician, and social worker. The successful applicant will be able to form good rapport with families facing chronic illness and will help the division maintain continuity of care. Additionally, the successful applicant may have the option of participating in some inpatient consultative duties as time allows. Consistent with the job responsibilities of the physician providers, the NP would participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, prescription refills, prior authorizations, durable medical equipment prescriptions, and other coordination of care duties necessary for the care of a medically complex pediatric patient population. Provides direct patient care to a diversified patient population. Applies knowledge, experience and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. Participates in patient and staff education. Demonstrates leadership skills. Demonstrates accountability for own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.
Possession of valid CA RN and NP License.
DEA within 3 months of hire.
Graduation with a Master's Degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.
National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area.
1 year or greater experience as a NP.
Current BLS/CPR and PALS.
Pediatric experience at an RN or NP level
ICU experience (could be NICU, PICU, or adult ICU) at an RN or NP level
1 year or greater recent clinical experience in specialty care of the hiring department.
Bedside RN and/or APP/NP experience in intensive care unit settings
Special Requirements This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
