The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Technician B to join our team in a full time position. Columbia University Medical Center's Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. This position will support the department by providing laboratory support to a PI in the area cardiac development and regeneration in the zebrafish model.
We are seeking highly motivated and collaborative applicants for a Technician B position in the Targoff Laboratory at Columbia University Medical Center.
Research in our group is focused on the genetic basis of cardiac development and regeneration in zebrafish with a particular focus on transcriptional regulation of cardiomyocyte differentiation and identity maintenance.
The Technician B will mostly under the supervision of the Principal Investigator but some independence work will be expected.
The primary duties will be running, assisting with managing and writing results of basic experiments in molecular biology techniques.
Research in this lab is focused on the genetic basis of cardiac development and regeneration in zebrafish with a particular focus on transcriptional regulation of cardiomyocyte differentiation and identity maintenance.
Any other related duties as assigned.
Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience
Willing to work some weekend hours.
Highly organized with great attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to prioritize, work independently and as a team member, exercise sound judgment and discretion, maintain a high level of confidentiality, and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
Computer skills including Excel and Word.
