The Coordinator of Trauma Service will usetrauma clinical knowledge and technical competence to develop best practiceprocesses by evaluating data and making programmatic decisions for the TraumaProgram. The position will assist in the promotion of optimal care of traumapatients through performance improvement and patient safety programs. TheCoordinator of Trauma Services will serve as the Trauma/Burn Surge Coordinatoras it pertains to the County EMS Disaster Resource Center (DRC) and TraumaCenter Statement of Work. The position requires knowledge and judgment,technical competence, and leadership abilities.
Trauma/Burn Surge Coordinator
Actively support the HCC through the participation in Coalition activities.
Collaborate on County-wide surge response plans
Attend Trauma Surge Coordinator meetings hosted by the EMS Agency.
Attend daily sign out and rounds for identification of patient care and PI issues
Perform chart review of key indicators as needed
Coordinate the pediatric trauma performance improvement program
Develop and maintains clinical practice guidelines
Assist in implementing policies and procedures related to the care of trauma patients; remains current with local, state, and national trends and issues regarding trauma care
Coordinate information flow regarding trauma quality assurance activities and participates in Trauma Performance Improvement Committee, Trauma MPEC, quality assurance meetings, educational programs, in service meetings and workshops.
Injury Prevention and Community Outreach
Develop and maintain injury prevention programs for pediatric and adolescent patients
Participates in outreach efforts, including community relations and professional presentations
Respond to trauma resuscitations as available to provide oversight, mentoring, and just-in-time training staff and physicians
Coordinate care progression and family meetings as needed
Assists with trauma education within the hospital and the community
Maintains TNCC and Stop the Bleed instructor status
