Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Electro Neurodiag Tech I-Lead.
In this role, the successful candidate will assist in coordinating the day to day activities and department workflow. They will ensure that all studies that are sent for readings and read on a timely basis. Ensure that all technologists routinely manage EEG and Long Term Video Monitored EEG studies. Job Responsibilities: - Take lead role in overseeing that the daily workflow activities are carried out efficiently
- Assistance with removing barriers that may cause delays with EEG admissions
- Ensure that all studies that were sent for readings are read on a timely basis and follow-up accordingly if there are any delays
- Assistance developing a Policy and Procedure manual for the EEG department.
- Develop and maintain an equipment issue log that can be used by staff to document on-going errors and issues.
- Promote a positive work ethic by leading by example
- Coordinate the technologist lunch and break schedule on a daily basis
- Compile the monthly Technologist staffing schedule and Physician reading schedules and send out notification to the EEG team and the time keeper.
- Assistance educating staff on how to manage the EEG data according to established department criteria.
- Assist with the training and orientation of new staff members to the EEG department
- Ensure that all technologists routinely manage EEG and Long Term Video Monitored EEG studies. The studies need to be marked clipped archived and deleted from the raw storage archive on a daily basis.
- Communicates with staff and co-workers in a professional manner at all times.
- Efficiently prepares patients for Holter monitoring following policy and procedure.
- Properly removes holter monitors that were placed on patients on their assigned units the day before.
- Maintains patient/client rights according to hospital policy.
- Communicates adequately pending work and/or problematic issues directly to supervisor
- Answers telephones and provides necessary assistance according to departmental standards
- Communicates with technicians and physicians regarding testing procedures including ordering and obtaining previous reports
- Maintains stock of supply inventory.
- Assists in physician billing.
- Notify by email the scheduled Neurologist of all examinations requiring a reading on a daily basis as well as following up on studies that were previously sent for readings that are still unread on a daily basis.
- Assists in compiling patient demographic data for the purposes of billing on a routine basis
- Proactively trouble shoots all technical issues with the assistance of the internal IT department the vendor and the bio-medical department until the issues have been adequately resolved in a timely manner.
- Perform hyperventilation and photic stimulation studies as needed
- Adequately adjusts the acquisition video cameras so that the patient is in full view at all times and that the patient seizure notification is functional.
- Adequately writes in the progress section of the patients chart after making daily rounds on a daily basis.
- Appropriately ensures that all review stations are functioning properly on a daily basis.
- Verify the acquisition data is adequately displayed and functional at the nursing station
- Properly assists in escorting the patient back to the nursing unit and ensure that the acquisition unit is placed on the network.
- Adequately hook-up patients for the EEG examination with use of Collodium or another suitable adhesive along with the appropriate head dressing in adequately for long term monitoring
- Performs Video-Electroencephalographic procedures for patients as ordered by physicians (in department patient room intensive care unit Pediatrics dept Emergency room and other nursing units as required).
- Files patient reports appropriately
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical psychosocial educational safety and age-related criteria pertinent to the patients served in his/her assigned area.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
- Maintains department records reports files as directed
- Alerts supervisor of equipment malfunction. May make minor adjustments.Documents maintenance.
- Assists with maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
- Abstracts relevant information from patients clinical record and obtains additional information by questioning. Writes a technical report under supervision which serves as a preliminary report to the patients physician.
- Properly obtains standard recording recognizes artifacts and takes appropriate steps to eliminate them. Documents all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the exam
- Selects predetermined electrode combinations as well as special combinations
- Calibrates and adjusts the EEG and VEEG apparatus in accordance with standard procedures
- Applies suitable electrodes on pre-determined measured positions on the patients head and checks their performance
- Receives assignment. Prepares patient. Explains procedures and assures patients cooperation during exam
- Performs standard electroencephalographic procedures for patients as ordered by physicians (in department patient room intensive care unit).
