Position Summary:

 

The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator is responsible communication for transportation of patients from the Holding Unit, to OR , Recovery and Inpatient Unit. Front Desk will fill out a green "Surgery Call Slip" and contact a PCA for pick up of the patient.performing check-in functions and billing for services and resources provided in compliance with the essential structural framework for provision of patient care.

  • Schedules and revises the surgery schedules Miller's Children's OR front desk. Performs all related duties as assigned. Ensures patient confidentiality when scheduling cases and posting the schedule. Coordinates effectively with other departments, medical staff offices and physicians throughout the scheduling process.
  • Verifies completeness of Physician and Nurse's orders prior to scheduling same day add on cases, requesting vendor onsite support, trays and implants via Casechek. Works closely with Physicians to ensure timely completion of First Case on time starts.
  • Assists in carrying out clerical skills which support the efficient operations of the department. Computerizes activities for efficiency and ease. Identifies unit or system problems and develops action plan for change. Develops systems for tracking accurate quantitative data.
  • Initiates and develops effective communication to promote a cohesive environment and work relationships. Ensures that documentation is complete and easily retrievable for team members to verify status of surgery planning and scheduling.
  • Serves as an informational resources to patients and families throughout the surgery planning and scheduling process. Greets patients and families during on operative surgery date and provides simply better care and ensures coordination is seamless.
  • Maintains communication with patients, families and team members regarding operative status.
