JOB SUMMARY:
This Ops Improvement Engineer improves operations from a systems approach, with some guidance. The Ops Improvement Engineer conducts current and future process mapping, recommends and implements changes that add to the value stream in order to meet financial targets and improve quality of care, patient safety, and overall patient satisfaction. Establishes presence and demonstrates accessibility to leadership in assigned project area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the development of project plans to include problem statement, current state, root cause analysis, future state, solution, action plan, expected benefit, verification and follow up.
- Demonstrates knowledge in value stream mapping.
- Participates in continuous improvement actions that improves VUMC operations.
- Applies appropriate analytical tools to address issues.
- Effectively represents department through timely communication and follow up.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT (NOVICE): Identifies, analyzes and improves upon existing business processes for optimization and to meet standards of quality.
COACHING (NOVICE): The capability, normally based on a specific expertise, to influence others, manage the relationship and deliver results for a client in a professional manner. Coaches senior leaders and executive leadership towards solutions and implementation of actions.
ANALYTICAL SKILLS (NOVICE): The process of identifying, evaluating, interpreting and organizing data. It includes sorting through data to identify patterns and establish relationships for decision making.
PROBLEM SOLVING (NOVICE): Uses critical thinking and process improvement i.e. coaches and mentors development of problem statement, describes current state, identifies root causes, creates future state, coaches and mentors development of solutions and action plans with a sustainability plan. Applies appropriate tools to address issues.
