SUMMARY: The Laboratory Processing Specialist for Referral Testing (LPS-RT) provides specimen processing and technical assistance within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. This position provides support in the laboratory serving as the content expert for referral testing processing. Duties include: preparing specimens for testing and shipment to outside laboratories, equipment operation, and performing daily routines necessary for the efficient operation of the assigned work area. The LPS-RT serves as a resource to staff and physicians for guidance on appropriate choices for referral testing requests. Responsibilities also include stocking of required supplies and maintaining a clean work environment.
REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a High School Diploma/GED. Minimum one (1) year laboratory technical support experience required. Must score a minimum of 85% on the math assessment at time of hire/transfer into the position. Medical terminology and bilingual skills are preferred.
POSITION DETAILS: Full time 80 hours per pay period.
