Responsible for the overall operation of the Pharmacy Department. For the integration of the department into the primary functions of the organization, coordination and integration of inter/intradepartmental services, development/implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services, recommending a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care/services, determining the appropriateness of qualifications and competency of department/service personnel, continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and services provided, the maintenance of quality control programs, the orientation and continuing education in the department, and recommending space and other resources needed by the department. Will also be responsible for purchasing and inventory control and the pharmacy budget.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy
Experience in all areas of hospital pharmacy, including dosing calculations for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, geriatric patients, experience with group purchasing, state, federal laws, JCAHO and HCFA standards highly preferred.
Hospital experience (last hospital pharmacy position within the past two years and total of least five years preferred.
