Description Program Manager Job Summary : This position will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of departmental communications. It will include but not be limited to web presence maintenance, department chair, and senior department leadership communication, creating, editing, and proofing manuscripts, grant abstracts, and funding proposal materials. Department/Unit Summary The Department of Biostatistics at VUMC was founded in 2003, tasked with the mission of bringing biostatistical expertise to the Vanderbilt community. Key responsibilities * Department communications program initiatives * Manage communication and editorial activities for research program activities * Plan, implement, and manage a campus-wide presence and a local and national communications strategy for department and faculty achievements * Write, design, produce, and disseminate departmental communications and marketing materials including newsletters, online presence, and special events (print and electronic) * Manage listservs and contact lists for department events * Manage event and communications calendars * Select, manage, and supervise external consultants and vendors as needed to execute strategic department communication programs and activities * Facilitate activities with internal colleagues and external vendors to complete specific objectives * Partner with faculty to increase and maintain lines of communication for advance notice of achievements (e.g., published articles, notices in media) * Research new ideas, technologies, and best practices to ensure success of communication plans * Continuously compile, review, and analyze process outcomes against established goals, objectives, and timelines, including website and social media performance * Create and maintain materials and standard operating procedure manual archive * Partner with PI to manage research portfolio activities that include internal and external partners * Draft portions of grant proposals, reports, and project documents * With minimal guidance from PIs, establish goals, objectives, and timelines for projects and tasks * Manage IRB and other project-specific submissions, tracking them for the life of the project(s) * Perform project management activities including managing project budgets and schedules, overseeing the development and submission of deliverables, and managing staff across a portfolio of projects * Develop and implement communications plan for research portfolio deliverables and final products, including informational materials for dissemination * Prepare materials for publication, including copy editing and formatting documents * Provide general editorial assistance as needed by the PIs.
