Description Your Role: Support the Medical Center by transporting patients to various patient care areas throughout the hospital by a stretcher, wheelchair or bed. Maintain work environment in a safe, clean, orderly manner. Receives, cleans and decontaminates transport equipment with departmental policies. Utilize technology in order to receive transport requests. Operates all departmental equipment safely and effectively. Position Qualifications: Required: * High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) and < 1 year relevant experience Preferred: * Previous Health Care or Customer Service experience Position Shift: * 1:00 pm - 10:30 pm Rotating days weekends and holidays Department/Unit Summary: The Patient Transport department is comprised of 60 staff members that work together to ensure high quality patient care is provided while transporting patients. With the use of our Teletracking system, we excel in the movement and care of patients throughout the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. We average over 425 patient moves a day. Patient Transport VUMC includes 60 team members and provides transport service for multiple clinics, testing areas, units, and surgical floors. Patient Transport VCH facility includes several team members who work solely in transporting children, teens, and young adults. TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES: CUSTOMER SERVICE - (NOVICE): - Demonstrates the ability to influence customers. Knows how to verify and clarify the needs and expectations of customers. Responds quickly and efficiently to customer service requests. Participates in and conducts meetings with customers. Keeps customers informed of status via standard reporting techniques. Meets the continuing service needs of a customer group, including requests for changes in work content. Responds to customers with an appropriate level of urgency, energy, persistence and tenacity. DISPATCH (FUNDAMENTAL AWARENESS): - Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with dispatch. MEDICAL EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE (FUNDAMENTAL AWARENESS): - Awareness of the capabilities of the specific medical equipment and its characteristics.
