You will be responsible for coordinating the Department of Plastic Surgery's OR utilization and managing faculty schedules as they relate to OR usage at a more global level. In this role, you will help us utilize our ORs to their full potential and maximize our surgeon's efficiency and productivity. You will coordinate the "surgeon of the day" and covering surgeon calendars, allocate urgent cases to the surgeon of the day, partner with the scheduling office on urgent cases, manage department OR utilization, lead weekly communication with physicians and clinic team about current utilization and opportunities to fill, find OR gaps and cases to fill them, and help enhance the surgery scheduling process.
In addition to coordinating the Department's OR program, you will provide administrative support to 2-3 surgeons. You will also provide additional departmental support such as data analysis, supply ordering, and other tasks as needed. This job code is for those who need Electronic Medical Records access as part of their role. Serves as a primary resource for daily operations and provides administrative and business support to complex area(s), independently. Serves as a liaison with internal/external groups.

The Department of Plastic Surgery, within the Section of Surgical Sciences, is a vibrant and growing department. Our clinical team has a robust clinical practice and provides a variety of Plastic Surgery related care and partner with many other services within VUMC. Research is a vital part of Plastic Surgery at VUMC, and it is powered by research fellows, attending physicians, surgical faculty, staff, and other collaborators and colleagues from various disciplines.
